dreams

Some freaky dreams lately!
Let's start with my favorite!

Dreamed about a post apocalyptic steampunk world. I was a woman who was needed by society, I made clothing, and blankets, and hats mittens and all sorts of things like that ( we still had electricity). My chosen life partner was the captain of an airship(thinly the flying shop in peter pan) he was awesome!! Gallant, handsome(looked exactly like Eugene but with hair ;>).
We had a child, and that child was the most darling baby boy, I had just given birth to him at the beginning of the dream.
Well my husband stumbled upon a plot to wipe out the city with a horde of zombies. And since that's was his home base, and where the baby and I lived, he was not ok with this. He tried to stop it, they branded him a rebel, so instead we spent hours running around town gathering supplies and warning as many people as we could. We gave them all different pick up .locations and times to be there, so that the cops would be confused should anyone betray us. (Gotta think smart right) when all was said and done we had enough fuel, cloth, yarn, food, and water to last us 2 years ( so long as we occasionally stopped for fresh meat) and we set sail in this air ship, and lived happily ever after, we came back to the city once, to.find it completely dead, and just moved on.

Then I had a dream about a guy who was running a camp of sorts. Military presence, heavy artillery, rigid routines, but still lots of laughter, love, healthy relationships... It was a good place, a safe place. The zombie apocalypse had happened,.and we were holding.g down our corner of the earth.
It worked... Mostly, there had been a serum developed that saved you from becoming a mindless zombie, the only down side is that you had to retake it every year, and there was always the chance that you would take it and go mad with anger(like the reavers in firefly), and try to kill everyone. You would sprout wings of fire when this happened, but only those who truly knew you could see them.

So anyway, we had been attempting to find a way to.safely use a house outside of the compound as a weigh station for travelers, so that it would be protected, but not attract zombies, and keep our compound hidden until we decided if they had what it took to be in there with us.

As a soldier and a scientist, I had a unique point of view, so unwashed placed in charge of .project whirlpool. We were finally ready to test on humans, to.see if we could handle the pulling and pressure, but the captain was wary, not wanting to risk live on something he wasn't sure would .work.

So as I was patrolling with cedric, I saw the fiery wings, he was getting increasingly angry about small things, like mosqitos, or small children.

Finally enough was enough o told him I needed to investigate something strange and to patrol the area around me, as soon as I got off the trike, he was off chasing down prey to feed his increasing anger, headed right towards the labor and delivery wards, without thinking I plunged into the whirlpool lake and went through! It took linger than expected to get out of there, but you could breathe so it was not so bad.

As soon as I hit the water I was up sputtering to go stop cedric before it was too late, he'd gone mad!!
we sentenced him to death, and then everyone had fajitas...

Yeah I have no idea, my brain is nuts. Vivid dreams are vivid LOL

So today is Christmas..

It's the First Christmas without the Sweet man who Adopted me at 14. The first Christmas without my Daddy. The real one, not the sperm donor.

The one who saw my potential as a human being, who nurtured me, and loved me unconditionally, even though I was a bratty teenager and a bratty 20 year old.

The one who loved me even though he didn't have to.

Have that love still, even though my Dad is gone is the BEST gift I could have ever asked for, and I've had it every year for the last 9.

Gary Robert Schriver the Dad that didn't have to be, your Memory is Cherished and will be forever. <3 Thank you, for loving me, and being a part of my life. I appreciate it so so so so much.

I love you, and I hope that you are looking down at Annie, Cassie, Merry, Mom and I with Pride. Because we are trying really really hard to make it a good day.

Love you Daddy Merry Christmas.

Just wouldn't be the holidays without some family drama would it?

So yeah Christmas this year was Canceled because my Husband can't stop fighting with his mother... Yep That's right, it's not my motherinlaw and I what ahve the troubles, it's 100% him and her... Nuts right? *sigh* Oh well I don't even know why he's really mad, and I don't know why she's mad, i just know that there was a lot of yelling on the phone, and a lot of immaturity, on both their parts.

Ahh well, we stayed home, so it's cool. I didn't really feel like getting out with my back the way it is anyway, and Eugene and I have spent the whole day together, I have had a great time. Since we were planning on going to family's house for christmas dinner, and did not have a bakcup plan ( that will never happen again) We just ordered a Christmas Eve Pizza LOL. I know I know It's nuts.

But even though it is nuts, I have really enjoyed this holiday with JUST Eugene.... we never have holidays with JUST US, not even when we were dating. this is the first Christmas in 6 years we have spent by ourselves. :)

Eugene went out and got his Christmas Present... mine was only a 150 dollar laptop, ( because I was all responsibile and paid off my car) But HE went out and got 8 dvds, and a 600 dollar surround sound system :P I don't begrudge him that system... because now I can get my Embroidery machine AND accessories GUILT FREE!! OH YES!!!! See link for my machine!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003AVMZA4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I did A LOT of research to find the one that would be right for me, and this is perfect for my beginnery self! <3 SO EXCITED!@!! Once I get it ( in about three weeks, after payday, and such) I will try it out and give you a review :) I think I'm going to pay for next day shipping though lol I don't trust ground shipping, takes too long and too much can happen to it!

Facial Hair OMG!!!

So at work tonight, we had fun with sticky felt!! ( On break of course) and made Mustaches for our team Wreath! It's pretty spectacular IMO!! Anyways, here are some fun pics from it, once I get more, I will post them <3.

Breaking Dawn Part one

IT WAS AMAZING!!!
I am sorry yall, I am a bonafide TWIHARD!! I love Twilight, have all the books in teh hardback collectors edition, and it's my favorite series ever, I can read it over and over and over, you better believe it's in a spot where I can easily grab it and run out the door should a natural disaster strike!

Anyway... the movie was amazing, it was so close to the book!!! Am d proud of the team who made that movie happen, and can only hope that part 2 is just as good, if not better!

Blessed be!

getting my crafty on!!

So I went out today to grab some Glycerine, but they didn't have any, and I had coupons, so I figured I may as well use them!! Got 8 yards of fabric, and I am going to use all of it to make reusable Grocery bags!! This one is the perfect size, holds a loaf of bread with no bending :)

Only made one ( it takes about an hour to make one from first cut to final seam) but I can already tell this is going to be something I enjoy doing VERY MUCH!!

Austin is talking about getting rid of plastic and paper bags completely in about three years! We will see if it happens, but it really spurred me to my decision to help reduce my own carbon footprint even more. :) Going to have a lot of fun making these bags, and saving the planet at the same time!

Hope you all enjoy the photos :)

Teal solid will be paired with Lobster, Conch shells, and Coral, Maroon Solid will be paired with this beautiful Wine fabric, you can't tell in the picture, because my phone isn't that great with dark rooms, but it has the most beautiful purples in taht wine!, and then the Green and Blue flowers will be paired with the sewing notions. :) It's super pretty, and will make some great bags!! you only need 1 yard of each fabric to make one bag, I got 1 extra yard each of the two solids, so that I could pair them with darker colors I have here at home.

Eugene asked me to please make sure that I had some bags that he wouldn't feel stupid carrying :P So teal and maroon and black, I have lots of other fabric that I'll use for more manly bags too.. Silly man :P

<3

*Insert Witty Title here*

So yall know I wanted to do this HUGE list of awesome things this weekend, I did not get the quilts or the hats done ( YET! the weekend isn't over) But I DID get most of the cleaning done. I had a wonderful time at the Holiday Party, and While I wanted to get all of the casseroles done, Eugene did not get his paycheck yet, so that was not quite possible. I am about to get down to the business of making muffins though :) I have two bananas and a box of rasberries and Black berries ready to be thrown into the mixes. :)

I feel so darn Productive!!! AND I feel like we are well on our way to saving money, and living a bit healthier of a lifestyle.

Here's the Enchilada Casserole Recipe ( makes 12 medium portions) And some pictures for reference :)
1 twelve ounce bag of Morning Star Meal starter soy meat substitute
1 package taco seasoning
1 Pack HEB fresh made whole wheat Tortillas
1 Can Tomato Paste
1 Can tomato sauce ( could have made all that from scratch too, but really, I just wasn't confident enough to do that this round)
1 four cup bag sharp cheddar cheese( you can use your favorite taco cheese, I just like sharp cheddar the best).
1 Disposable Foil pan ( seriously, these things are indispensable I LOVE THEM!! I actually reuse em, they are easier to clean than traditional pans, AND you can bend them to get a particularly stubborn corner piece out, holy parenthetical batman!)
Some non stick spray
a big bowl
tongs

1) Spray the Pan with Non stick
2)take your paste and sauce and mix it together in a bowl, then you take the tortillas and dip them in teh sauce one at a time front and back.
3) Line the pan with the tortillas, til you have even coverage, allow the tortillas to go up the sides of the pan as well ( just on the first layer, helps keep the casserole shaped when you cut it)
For the size pan I used, 4 tortillas was plenty for each layer.
4) Let the first layer sit there for a minute while you cook up the meatless ground ( it's already cooked, you are just heating it up to add the taco seasoning) fill the tomato paste can about half way, and pour that into the pan with the "meat" Let simmer til you are confident that the seasoning has been evenly distributed ( it's the same as cooking regular tacos, I'm sure yall know how)
5) Layer 1/3rd of the bag of cheese over the tomato sauced tortillas
6)add half of your "meat" and spread it as evenly as you can, this is not an exact science, it's not important to be precise
6) Add a little bit more cheese over the top
7) layer with four more tomato sauce dipped tortillas
8) Layer with cheese
9) add the last of the meat
10) layer with cheese again
11) 4 more dipped tortillas
12) top with the rest of the cheese in the bag

Remember this gives you 12 portions, so while it seems like a LOT of cheese, it's really not that much. :)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and Pop the casserole in there for 20 minutes, then lower the temp to 325 and cook for another 40 minutes!

When it's done if you plan to freeze it for future meals, just let it set and cool off for about an hour and a half to two hours, and cut it into 12 pieces, place into tupperware containers, and pop into your freezer for easy peasy on the go homemade frozen meals!

As a side note, we also want to make sure that we get more vegetables in our diet, so I bought several biiiig bags of veggies and some little tupper ware containers, and I made my own vegetable medleys, this is cheaper, and you only get the veggies YOU WANT. Also makes it easier to customize veggies for each person, you know I won't eat carrots and Broccoli, but Eugene will eat them like no bodies business! You can season these int eh container, then when you pop them in teh microwave to warm them up, the water will steam the spices right into the veggies! ( Remember that you don't want to use a lot of spices, so that they still taste good :>)

And now the pictures!! <3

5 wines, and how I feel they taste

Blue Bottle Moscato D'asti 7.99 from walmart- Delicious Melony flavor, soooo tasty! sweet and crisp, with none of the almost rotten aftertaste you get with some white wines.

Il vinoDell'Amore Petalo Moscato Bottega(NO YEAR)- Has that rotten aftertaste, but it's so good on the front I will forgive it. It tastes like flowers, not as fruity, has a HINT of apricot and peach, but overall very very floral. :)

Cavit Collection Moscato ( 2010)- This wine is Delicious, you can taste the rich almost meatiness of the Apricot right away, it's got a bit of fizz to it as well, Definitely one of my favorites thus far :) No Rotten Aftertaste at all, which is a HUGE plus in my Opinion, some people like that overly sweet aftertaste, I just don't go for it. This Moscato has so many layers that it's hard to describe them all, but I will try. First you have the delicious grapes, they must have been picked at the peak of perfection, the tangy and sweet meld so well on your tongue it is so good. Then we will move on to the peach. Most peach flavors are overpowering to say the least, they just take over the wine, not so in this wine, I think they used a White peach, which has a much more delicate flavor to it. now lets move on to the Apricots. Normally when you get a wine that has elements of Apricot in it, you have a lot of sulfur ( Which can give you headaches, and makes for a strange after flavor) This Apricot has no sulfur flavor at all, it's rich, meaty, and bold. Most definitely one of my favorites. I will look up the price later, but I found it at our Local Grocery store (HEB) for under 10 dollars.

Barefoot Moscato( no year) This is a medium wine.. not great, but not bad, and since you get like a gallon for 9 bucks I'd say that for the price, it's a good wine. It is not really a moscato, as Moscatos are more dessert wines, but it is a semi sweet white wine.... has a hard taste to it, I would say that it is best served with something like fried cheese, or french fries... something greasy. ( That's not a put down though, I think it's great that we now have a wine we can drink with a greasy food) though let me just say, upon further investigation, This wine is EXCELLENT in red sauce :)

Alice White Lexia Moscato South Eastern Australian wine... what can I say about this monstrosity? It tastes HORRID and I had to finish teh bottle as quickly as possible while intoxicated so that I wouldn't have to drink it sober.... Yeah it's that bad, maybe it's just the year (2010) but it is terrible. There is no fruity flavor, all I can taste is the alcohol... I am very disappointed.

And then I got a laptop, and groceries for the next month, so that I can do my homesteading thing!

And I got hair dye, to remove all the beautiful purple from my hair ( I am so sad, but financially I cannot afford the upkeep of the purple right now, and I do not like the roots showing thing it's ugly)

And I got a new necklace to wear to the Holiday Party, AND on top of that I got 2 new games, Alice Madness Returns for me, and I preordered ( and paid for thank you very much) Eugene's Copy of SWTOR.

Sooooooooooooo The rest of the money I do have left will NOT be going to yarn this time, and that's ok, because i used my money on some really important things, I am still going to go get my Glycerine though! cause I needs it!!! :) to make my soaps! <3

Butterless Muffins!

So I want to tell you all that I made butterless muffins because it's healthier, but that's a lie lol, I did it because we have no butter at the house at the moment :P.

Regardless here's the muffins!

Recipe found here

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/to-die-for-blueberry-muffins/

I did NOT add a topping to mine. :P)

Trust, and Baking... not related topics

So yall I have been in a few relationships in my day, and I have to say that most of them were with terrible partners. I chose the ones that did not fit me at all because I felt that I didn't deserve the best.

That stopped being the case about 6 years ago when I met my Husband. :)

Eugene and I met when I was 18, I had been dating a guy who totally did not respect my boundaries. So when I met Eugene and I had that moment of " that's the man I am going to Marry" I was of course suspicious of myself! Who wouldn't be?

But he made me feel so great about myself. He stayed up all night texting with me, and he held me when I cried. He made me feel special, and at that time I was EXTREMELY vulnerable, having daddy issues, and all that stuff.

I never took advantage of that vulnerability, I think he was afraid to, to be honest, because he totally could have!

Well After about 4 months we decided to move in together, and we even got engaged, it was lovely! I was an engaged woman, at the age of 18!!! I wanted to set the date for that july! :P ( I was in a rush you see, no reason why, just the rush of youth I suppose) But that didn't happen, we decided to set the date for February 29th of 2008 ( that's right! Leap day!) So the years passed, and we got married, and have been married for NEARLY FOUR YEARS!! And yall, I have to say that I trust that man as much now as I did when we first got together.

I trust him not to hurt me on purpose, I trust him to apologize when he says the wrong thing, i trust him with my body, I trust him with my home, my dog, my car, my heart, everything. I trust him with EVERYTHING.

He is my man. I am his woman. That is the way it is. When he's sick, i feel it, when I'm sick, he feels it. When One of us is frustrated, the other feels it and USUALLY we try to alleviate the tension. When I'm in a bad mood he makes me laugh, when he's in a bad mood, I give him snuggles, and let him know that to me, he's the man! I even trust him enough to tell him my weight. We share in my disappointments, and my success, my daily struggles, and my weekly weigh ins, he has never made me feel unattractive, he has always loved me for who I am, inside and out.

So this is what I want to say on the matter of trust, If you do not trust your man, It's possible there is a reason for that. It is SOOO possible there is a reason for that. But if you start playing those headgames, to try to figure out if he's being honest, or if he's cheating on you, then you are the one who will end up getting hurt in the end.

You need to just have faith, or really good investigative skills :P.

Be honest with him, if you feel he's being distant, tell him his coldness is making you worry, tell him that you want to talk about things, that you want to make sure that everything is ok. I'm not saying you have to take responsibility if your man cheats on you, not at all, that's his deal. I am saying that you have to have an active role in each others lives, you have to keep it fresh, Marriage is not the death of a relationship, infact it's just the beginning of it! All that dating you did before? Keep it up!! Not saying you have to eat out all the time, I am saying keep making sure each other feels special!

Marriage is a joining of two lives, but it's a constant job to keep those two lives joined. It is sooo easy, to each go off to your own world and never talk. That's the death of a relationship.

COMMUNICATION WILL KEEP YOUR MARRIAGE HEALTHY AND ALIVE. COMMUNICATION WILL KEEP THE BEDROOM SPICY EVEN AFTER 50 YEARS!!!
COMMUNICATION WILL KEEP YOU BOTH IN LOVE, AND ONLY LOOKING TO EACH OTHER.

If you don't tell your mate what you are thinking, then they won't know, then something will happen, a fight, or a tiff, or a slight, SOMETHING that will begin driving a wedge between you both, and then no one will be happy! :(

We all want to be happy! We all deserve to be happy! You deserve the sort of relationship where you feel comfortable talking about anything, from sex, to kids, to *BRING ME SOME TOILET PAPER* :) I hope each and everyone one of you gets that sort of relationship.

Someone who will stick by you through loss, and gain, who will love you even if you aren't fertile, who will love you even if you are a little chubby, who will love you even if you don't do the dishes and vacuum quite as often as you should. Who will indulge your crafty side, and just be there for you in general <3.

I hope that each and every one of you has a person to share your life with who treats you like this one day. and if you don't now, try working on teh communication, maybe that will bring it back to what it should be. If it doesn't then move on... <3.

Now on to baking!

Yall know I"m broke til payday ( BILLS = HATE lol)

So I'm on a budget this week of whatever is in my pantry and fridge....

So! I'm going ot make some brownies, for my chocolate fix, and some muffins for my breakfast needs, I have rice and beans for lunches, and Ramen, and peanutbutter and jelly for dinner! ( I know I know, gross right? Ramen, terrible for you, but I rarely eat dinner anyways)

I have 2 overly ripe bananas, so I'm going to make a big ol batch of muffin mix, and then I am going to section it out, because in the fridge I have some rasberries, and some blackberries. :)

I will have 1/4 of the mix Banana muffins, 1/4th of the mix rasberry muffins 1/4th of the mix black berry muffins, and 1/4th of the mix Cinnamon muffins!

Also I will be using whole wheat flour to make them!! OM NOM NOM!!! Need to make sure to make them wet enough! Whole wheat flour is much drier than regular white flour.

I will post pictures later, Actually I might even make a youtube video of the whole thing!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week! I know I will, because even if you are broke, if you have the person you love by your side, and a basic knowledge of how to cook from scratch in the kitchen, you can't go wrong!

came home and got crafty!!!

So yall know, I had a bad day today ( it is still my day since I haven't slept yet) so I needed a positive outlet for those negative feelings. Since I can't go to food for that anymore!

I decided I needed to go home and get crafty!!

Here's the deal, at work we are having a white elekk( white elephant world of warcraft style). But I am broke til payday! So I made a quilt out of fabric I had on hand. It's pirates, and skulls and hearts and daggers LOL. Very cute in my opinion! ( there are pictures, it will make sense later Blogging from phone).

But I wasn't sure that one little quilt was enough, and damnit I needed to create something!!

So I get home from work at about 5:30 this morning, and I sit down at my sewing table. I decide to make a bag, a pirate bag... Ooo o o o!! I PINK AND BLACK PIRATE BAG ( yes my brain really talks to itself like that)

So I get a fabric pencil, and I draw a rough skull and crossbones on a white square of fabric, and I cut it out. It is a VERY cute skull LOL.

Then I take stock of the other fabric I have. Black and pink pinstriped pantsuit fabric, plain black trigger fabric, and my beautiful all time favorite go to pink fabric. I take all three!

So! Bottom of bag is 22 inches long, and 10 inches wide

Short sides are 22 inches tall, and 8 inches wide

Long sides are 22 inches wide by 22 inches tall

The skull is placed on the front f the bag at 8inches up, and 8 inches in.

The straps are 6 inch wide strips, that are 24 inches long.

Now, next time I will do a lot differently, but insatiable down with no pattern, no tutorials, and no knowledge of how to male a bag, so I think I did damn good. Here's what I did.

Straps were last but you do them whenever you want :). I folded the strips in half so that they were 3 inches wide and sewed them up at the 2 inch mark, and then turned them inside out. Set those aside.

I recommend you have a lining fabric, I dis, it keeps the bag a bit sturdier and looks a bit more professional :)

Next i started sewing the linings to the outside fabric. Before I thought about it, I just pinned the fabrics on top of each other wrong sides to right sides... That looks messy, I'm not a perfectionist, and I don't have a stitch ripper so I left those two pieces as they were. Then I realised that I should put the fabric right sides together stitch almost all the way around, flip it right side out, and finish stitching it up on the outside.

Now comes piecing these all together! I started with stitching the bottom to the short sides, then stitched the long sides to the bottom ( see picture) then I stitched all the seams together, resulting in my adorable new bag!! I am soooo sad to give it away, and actually and thinking about keeping it and just giving the quilt LOL!!!!!!!.

Ps! I added a pocket :)
